Question: Are hardwood floors expensive?
Answer: Hardwood floors are often reasonably priced and are an excellent value when compared to other flooring options. Hardwood floors never have to be replaced and will enhance or often increase the value of your home, should you decide to sell. When compared to other flooring products, hardwood floors provide long-lasting value.
Question: What type of floor and color should I choose?
Answer: There are several wood types, colors and grain variations available in hardwood. Carpets, vinyls and laminates come in an abundance of colors, textures and patterns. In a room, the floor represents the largest expanse of color or pattern in a room, second only to the walls. Your floor choice should complement the fabrics, furnishings and accessories that you plan to use in the room and should also match the unique personality of the room as a whole.
Question: In which rooms can I install a hardwood floor in my home?
Answer: Hardwood floors can be installed in any room in a home, except a full bath. However, due to potential moisture problems, solid hardwood is not recommended for installations below grade, such as in a basement. Engineered products, which are less susceptible to moisture damage, are better choices for this type of area.
Question: What about installing wood floors in high traffic areas, like a kitchen?
Answer: The urethane finishes on most new wood floors stand up to water and traffic, making wood flooring ideal for kitchens and other high traffic areas.
Question: Are hardwood floors hard to maintain?
Answer: No. A hardwood floor finished at the factory includes as many as seven layers of UV-cured polyurethane. This finish gives the floor a tough, durable and smooth surface that is both luxurious and easy to care for. Here are some tips in maintaining your hardwood floors:
